Hear ye people in the presence of this blog.

HEREIN, BY THE OFFICE OF THE EYE, THE MIND MAY REAP will be up on show at Futurist's 2/F gallery wall this Saturday Oct 7th.

But but. What what? …what does it mean? How doth the office have an eye and how doth the mind reap such things? And what things in fact are to be reaped by this office? This Eye? This Mind?

Well yesterday, a baffled Odile_tv sat down in the office of the “I’ for a brief moment, typed up an investigation and sent it out to the conjurers of this statement (JP Velasco, Noelle De Gracia and Dexter Mizuno) in order for us average viewers see eye to eye... in the office or i don't know perhaps wherever we may be?

Here’s what we found out:

HOW LONG HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN WORKING TOGETHER?

Noelle: Literally only a month ago for JP’s fashion show 😅 For JP and I, that marked the beginning of our journey together as creatives. JP as the dreamer and me as the realist : a perfect combo. There’s still so much in store for us, and I’m excited to see our dreams and ideas come to life.

JP: Taj (Dexter) and I have been friends with each other since highschool, and this is actually only our second time collaborating on a creative project, and more to come! For Noelle and I, this is also our second creative project together and it has been pretty exciting by far! I really enjoy working with her, especially with her practical way of thinking; it helps ground my over conceptual ideas. She's the best!

Dexter: I've known JP since we were highschool, Always looked up to this creative individual. Told myself that one day i want to work with him and then Noelle came who's also a creative individual... and now here we are on our second project.

HAVE ANY OF YOU GUYS EVER WORKED IN AN OFFICE? IF YES HOW WAS IT?

Noelle: I used to work for a creative agency so I wouldn’t consider it too office-y. Though the setting may be more chill compared to other corporate offices, I wasn’t a big fan of working onsite because then I couldn’t take my siestas!

JP: I have not worked a nine to five job in an office. However, I have been exposed to it a lot growing up. From my uncle and mother’s law firms to even my father’s offices during his time in the AFP.

Dexter: I haven't worked in an office yet.

WHAT SPARKED THE IDEA TO MAKE BALACLAVAS?

JP: I chose balaclavas for my fashion shows guests and models to convey the idea of being stripped of titles and one's self identity. The objective was to show everyone was equal during the show. That everyone there was human, gathered together to watch another human’s curated garment presentation.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE DESSERT? HAVE YOU EVER HAD A  BAKLAVA?

Noelle: No, I haven’t tried a baklava. & I am the biggest ice cream lover everrrr. If I were to eat only one thing for my entire life, I would choose ice cream.

JP: My favorite dessert would be apple pie. Baklavas are so good, especially when you pair them with tea!

Dexter: Favorite dessert? I would say a slice of red velvet cake. I have yet to experience tasting baklava, but I look forward to the opportunity, as it appears to be a truly delectable treat!

WHAT WOULD YOU WANT YOUR MIND TO REAP FROM ALL THIS?

Noelle: Lessons and experience. These, always, in everything.

JP: My mind will reap the subjective interpretations of the viewers while gazing at the images of my pieces.

Dexter: In my photography/videography journey, there are some things I aspire for my mind to reap.

Firstly, I aim to continuously improve my creative and technical skills. I want to capture images that not only tell a story but also evoke emotions in viewers. Secondly, I hope to develop a unique perspective and style that sets my work apart and allows me to express my vision. Basically, I want my mind to reap creativity, growth, empathy, and the joy of sharing stories I encounter through my lens.

WHAT'S YOUR EVERYDAY CARRY? LIKE YOU CAN'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THEM.

Noelle: Just my phones. There’s two of them but they function as one. It’s my camera, stereo, map, and video player all in one.

JP: My shades/sunglasses.

Dexter: I can't leave home without my prescription glasses

WHO IS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL INDIVIDUAL IN YOUR DEVELOPMENT?

Noelle: Myself! Kind of cliche but I’m really proud to say that. I have long struggled with being too dependent on others and I decided to change that. I’m more grounded and empowered now - I’m a version of me that my past self would have never imagine to be - and I’m presently happy with how at home I feel within myself.

JP: Numerous people, from numerous fields. Individuals such as Martin Margiela, Marcel Breuer, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Helmut Lang, Tadao Ando, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and countless more!

Dexter: I draw inspiration from a diverse group of individuals, both local and foreign. From individuals such as Dave Edosma, Gabrielle Lachica, Rob Lastismo, Ikigai to Gunner Stahl, Jack Krzyik, Pavel Krikunov, Gakuyen and many more!

HOW OFTEN DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE?

Noelle: I’m not a big fan of thinking about the future. The only time I do is when I try to foresee a project or event I’m working on, haha! I like to live presently because the present is all we have; it’s the only thing we really have. As long as I’m happy or doing okay, and that I’m being true to myself, I’m satisfied with how I live my life.

JP: A lot! I find myself creating constant scenarios to where certain decisions could lead to in the future, something I often discuss with my partner, Noelle.

Dexter: I always think what the future holds for me but the future is uncertain for all of us, and that's what makes life an exciting journey filled with opportunities and surprises!

Complete the following sentence: IN THE OFFICE OF THE FUTURE, I WILL

Noelle: …see more of my authentic self in all my actions, words, and outputs.

JP: …CONVINCE FELLOW FILIPINOS THAT DESIGN WILL CREATE A PROGRESSIVE PHILIPPINES!

Dexter: …continue to adapt to evolving trends in photography and videography, collaborate with clients and colleagues worldwide, and use my skills to tell compelling stories that resonate with diverse audiences.
